ABOUT BLANCHARD'S SPHINX MOTHS
"The Blanchard's sphinx is a a large tan sphinx moth with pink hindwing. Known only from Chisos Mountains, Brewster County, Texas. Almost all known specimens are from Panther Pass and adjacent Green Gulch in Big Bend National Park. The likelihood that this species ranges south into the Sierra Madre Orientale of Mexico is high, but no specimens south of the US border are known".
According to TPWD this species is Critically Imperiled because of extreme rarity (often 5 or fewer occurrences) or because of some factor(s) such as very steep declines making it especially vulnerable to extirpation from the state/province.
