Longhorn unveils the mesmerizing and often overlooked realm of native Texas bees and their indispensable role in nurturing our local ecosystems. Longhorn bees (Melissodes bimaculatus) are a type of solitary bee that often go unnoticed, despite their irreplaceable role as pollinators. We’re in luck though, June is the Two-spotted Longhorn bee’s most active month. These bees have long “horns” (antennae) and jet-black bodies that make them unique and beautiful creatures in their own right. Look for these diminutive wonders amidst the wildflowers, hidden under shrubbery or sometimes even sleeping upon flower stems.
Rory’s Longhorn offers a poignant invitation to investigate the over 800 native bee species in Texas. By recognizing the beauty and ecological significance of these creatures, we cultivate a profound appreciation for the often lesser-known heroes thriving within Austin’s biodiversity.
Rory Foster is an Austin-based artist whose ceramic works are guided by the landscapes, sunsets, insects, and birds that surround her. Through dedication to her craft,Foster’s pottery emerges as a celebration of movement, texture, and visual intrigue, while inviting viewers to connect with the beauty of the natural world.

Longhorn revela el fascinante y a menudo ignorado reino de las abejas nativas de Texas y su papel fundamental en la nutrición de nuestros ecosistemas locales. Las abejas Longhorn (Melissodes bimaculatus) son un tipo de abejas solitarias que a menudo pasan desapercibidas, a pesar de su insustituible función como polinizadoras. Pero estamos de suerte: junio es el mes más activo de la abeja Longhorn. Estas abejas tienen largos "cuernos" (antenas) y cuerpos de color negro azabache que las convierten en criaturas únicas y hermosas por derecho propio. TEMPO is a temporary art exhibition on the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail that is intended to cultivate curiosity, spark imagination, and encourage exploration of the city of Austin and is a partnership between The Trail Conservancy and The City of Austin’s Art in Public Places (AIPP).
Desde mayo de 2024 hasta abril de 2025, disfrute de 12 exposiciones de artes ecológicas. La artista Juliet Whitsett invita a artistas colaborativos a crear exhibiciones de arte ecológico de 1 mes en @ReallySmallMuseum_atx como parte de TEMPO on the Trail. TEMPO es una exposición de arte temporal en Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail que tiene como objetivo cultivar la curiosidad, despertar la imaginación y fomentar la exploración de la ciudad de Austin y es una asociación entre The Trail Conservancy y The City of Austin's Art in Public Places. (AIPP).
